Hovering high above I-70 in the foothills of Denver and sitting on it's own 15 acre mountain, The Sculptured House, originally built in the mid-1960s, is internationally recognized as one of the finest examples of modern organic architecture in the world. Decorated with the finest modern furniture and renovated to include contemporary conveniences, this house has a total of 7,600 round feet and is an incredible blend of design, entertainment space and comfortable family living, all in a remarkable setting. On Genesee Mountain I found a high point of land where I could stand and feel the great reaches of the earth, I wanted the house to sing an unencumbered song, said Charles Deaton, the architect and designer of this one-of-a-kind home. The original, shell-shaped structure was recently finished after sitting vacant for 30 years and a 4,000 square-foot addition, also designed by Deaton, was added. The four-car garage connects to the 1,015 square-foot guest or caretaker's apartment. The original structure has a circular elevator made famous in Woody Allen's movie, Sleeper, that reaches five levels and connects the three bedroom suites, living room, wet bar and large deck off the master. Together, the furnishings and the house combine to make an inhabitable work of art.
